Nail art (part 3)

Description

Remember the nail art posts I did back in 2013 and 2014? I kept on doing manicures until today, and I figured I should post them because that's the closest thing to art I've done recently HAHAHAHA. These are still old (late 2014), but I wanted to pick up right after I left off, and even if my skills improved since then, they're decent enough to be in Featured.

I usually do one manicure per week (two if I'm especially bored and none if I'm busy HAHAHA), and that's a lot of manicures since 2014, so I'm gonna post them in batches, as I did with the previous picks. Smaller batches, though; I want to keep posting my nail art after I've caught up, and I thought I could do one post per month or something like that.

Also, sorry about the horizontal white stripes. I took the pics from my Instagram, where I post all of my nail art, and well... let's just say Instagram didn't allow non-square pics back in 2014 HAHAHAHAHAHA It's also the reason for the fancy filters. But it'll get better in the next post. I promise! xDDD

Anyhoo, let's go with the actual nail art! From left to right and top to bottom...

:bulletwhite: Colorful French: You know the typical French gel nails with the nude base and thick white tips? I wanted to do the same, but with a white base and colorful tips. Love the idea, but the outcome is just... not. My white polish was ancient, and very dry. Added some acetone to it in order to try and make it lighter but nuh-uh. I'd re-do this mani a few months later, though, and it looked much better.

:bulletblue: Coral: Did a gradient with matte cyan and teal polishes, then thought, "hmm, how can I turn this into a proper mani?". And I picked some colors I thought went well with the base, slapped some wavy lines on, and boom, it looks like underwater coral or seaweed xDDDD Wasn't too big of an effort but it looks pretty good.

:bulletgreen: Neon Green: I never draw on my right hand's nails because I'm right handed; I'll usually paint them in whatever base color my left hand's nails were done, or use it to swatch new polishes (and therefore wear mismatched manicures HAHAHAHA). This was how my right hand looked while I was wearing Coral. It's a swatch for a neon glitter polish from Claire's. A friend of mine said this was a sexy shade... I never imagined neon green could be sexy. xDDDD

:bulletblue: Blue: I'll usually wear plain manicures when I have too much to do. This was one of those times. ^^; My nails were so long back then! The hairdresser asked me if they were fake. That was a real compliment.

:bulletgreen: 388: Swatch of Kiko's 388 polish. I remember I bought this polish because I thought it was my crush's favorite color... He had a pair of jeans in this color and wore them often. Oh god, I was such a stalker. xDDDD This is also the right hand counterpart to Mountain Dew

:bulletgreen: Mountain Dew: I typically name my manicures after I finish them, and usually after the things people tell me the mani reminds them of. This one looks a lot like Mountain Dew cans. xDDDDD It wasn't thought at all, I used the Kiko 476 polish as a base (it turns out this was my crush's favorite color instead! I used it in many manicures after I found out about that xDDD) and then drew lines on it with colors that matched well. But it looks good c: I should re-do this mani sometime.

Aaaand that's it for now. You can check out my more recent manicures at my Instagram. My profile is currently set to private, but if you want to follow me just send me a note with your @ and I'll accept you :meow:

Hope you liked it!
See ya,
